Indiana Lotto Winners Claim $1 Milllion From Powerball Tickets

Posted on January 11, 2022

Indiana had two Powerball winners come out of last week’s $632 million jackpot drawing. A pair of Hoosiers managed to chip off their own pieces of that massive prize.

One gambler won $1 million, with the other taking home a $50,000 prize.

$632 million Powerball jackpot

Last week’s $632 million Powerball jackpot was the seventh-largest in the game’s history.

Two gamblers ended up winning the grand prize by landing all six of the correct numbers. One winning ticket came from someone in California, with the other coming from Wisconsin.

The big winners have their choice of $316 million worth of annuity payments, or they could opt to take the cash option. Each gambler would end up with $225 million in that case.

The Powerball winners from Indiana might not be taking home that kind of insane prize, but hey, any money is still better than nothing. $1 million and $50,000 prizes are certainly nothing to sneeze at.

The $1 million winner bought their ticket at a Family Express in Crown Point. The $50,000 ticket came from a Friendly Express Mart in Milford.

If you’ve recently purchased a ticket from either location, then it’s time to start checking your numbers if you haven’t already.

Odds of winning Powerball in Indiana

Hoosiers have hit a ton of luck when it comes to winning the Powerball.

Gamblers that play the lottery in Indiana have won more Powerball jackpots than players in any other state, despite the insane odds of coming away with the big prize.

Players have about a 1 in 25 chance at winning any kind of prize when buying a Powerball ticket.

However, the jackpot is obviously much more difficult to land.

Hoosiers have still won the jackpot 39 separate times throughout the game’s history, even with the astronomically low odds of 1 in 292,201,338.

Indiana might not be able to claim last week’s jackpot, but the $1 million win is still a rare one.

That $1 million prize is Powerball’s second-largest payout behind the jackpot. Lottery players need to match five numbers on their ticket, but not the Powerball number itself.

Gamblers have a 1 in 11,688,054 chance at winning that prize.

The Hoosier that won $50,000 had to match four different numbers on their ticket, plus the Powerball number. Gamblers have a 1 in 931,129 at pulling that off.

For the sake of comparison, you have a 1 in 500,000 chance to be struck by lightning at any given time.
