Peyton Manning Hits The Links With Steph Curry For The Match 3

Peyton Manning Hits The Links With Steph Curry For The Match 3

Posted on November 25, 2020

The 2020 Majors might be over, but golf fans still have something to look forward to.

The Match 3 is taking place this Friday, Nov. 27 at Stone Canyon Golf Club in Arizona. TNT will be broadcasting the event live at 3 p.m.

Colts legend Peyton Manning is one of the headlining golfers.

It’s the second time that one of these events has taken place on Black Friday. The Match 2 was earlier this year in May, but the original event took place on Black Friday in 2018.

The hope is to make The Match an annual Black Friday tradition.

The Match 3 featuring Phil Mickelson

If you’re new to watching The Match events, here’s a quick rundown of how everything works:

First and foremost, there are four golfers split into two teams. This time it’s Peyton Manning and Steph Curry vs. Phil Mickelson and Charles Barkley.

The whole point of The Match is to raise money for charity.

The Match 2 raised money for COVID-19 relief, while The Match 3 will benefit historically black colleges and universities.

That’s a bit of a change from the original Match, which was a pay-per-view event. Since the event featured Tiger Woods in a head-to-head bout against Phil Mickelson, it was all about the competition at first.

No Tiger Woods at The Match 3

Woods took part in the second Match as well, but he won’t be joining the fun for the third go-around.

It isn’t likely that we’ll see Woods at next year’s event either.

As a TV event, the best part of The Match is the banter between the golfers. They exchange some friendly trash talk and make side bets with each other on the holes.

Since Woods is a private person, he doesn’t open up as much as regular TV personalities like Charles Barkley.

According to Bryan Zuriff, The Match’s producer, the evolution of The Match into a celebrity TV event will likely keep Woods out of the mix in the future.

“I think it’s more than just golf. And Tiger is the greatest golfer of all time. But to spend three hours with these guys in the golf carts where they should open up, you don’t get that with Tiger.”

Regardless of Woods’ absence, there’s still plenty of exciting action to look forward to.

Between Mickelson, Curry, Manning, and Barkley, you can expect plenty of entertainment throughout the day.

Betting odds for The Match 3

DraftKings is the official sportsbook partner of The Match.

At least for now, the sportsbook has the Manning-Curry duo as the slight favorite.

That’s interesting since team Mickelson-Barkley is the only side with a professional golfer hitting the course. Mickelson may be a pro, but Barkley is far from it.

The odds might change as we get closer to the event, but here’s how they’re looking for now:

  • Manning/Curry: -175
  • Mickelson/Barkley: +138

DraftKings also has prop bets on the board for The Match 3.

For example, you can bet on any of the four golfers to hit at hole in one at some point during the event.

You can also place a wager on which team will be leading after a certain number of holes.

Think Mickelson and Barkley will be winning after three holes? You can bet on it.

There are a decent number of prop bets available, so check out DraftKings’ website or app for the full list of options.
