IU vs. Purdue: Boilermakers Are The Favorites For Rivalry Rematch
A new chapter of Indiana’s biggest rivalry is finally here. The IU vs Purdue rematch will be taking place on March 5.
The first college basketball matchup between the two teams was back on Jan. 20. The Hoosiers narrowly managed to defend home territory with a 68-65 win at Assembly Hall.
Things are moving up to West Lafayette and Mackey Arena this time around. Purdue has the home-court advantage, and the team will be hungry to pick up a win this season against their in-state rival.
Thankfully, college basketball fans can bet on all of the action thanks to Indiana sports betting.
IU is on the March Madness bubble
All things considered, this game probably means more for IU than it does for Purdue.
The Boilermakers are currently the No. 8 team in the entire country, according to the latest AP Poll. Purdue has been one of the top teams all season long.
In other words, their tournament spot is already in the books. IU does not have that luxury heading into their final game of the regular season.
The cream and crimson could certainly have a shot to be among the Last Four In for this year’s March Madness. A road win against a top-10 team in the country would go a long way for their chances.
IU’s status as a blue blood program hasn’t exactly been holding up in recent years. The team hasn’t made the NCAA Tournament since 2016, so the Hoosiers are desperate to end that streak in 2022.
Realistically speaking, win or lose in West Lafayette, IU has a good chance to slide into the postseason so long as the Big Ten Tournament isn’t a disaster for them.
Purdue, on the other hand, could likely end up as a No. 2 seed for the NCAA Tournament.
IU vs. Purdue betting odds
If you love college basketball betting, then nothing beats a matchup between two rivals.
IU vs Purdue. Trayce Jackson-Davis going up against Jaden Ivey. Saturday’s action should be a fun way to end the regular season for both teams.
The Boilermakers are sporting a 24-6 record, including an impressive 15-1 mark while playing at home.
It isn’t easy to steal a win at Mackey Arena, which could spell trouble for the Hoosiers. IU is sitting at 18-11, but the team is only 3-7 playing outside of Assembly Hall.
Long story short, IU will have its work cut out for it during Saturday’s game.
The online betting apps in Indiana certainly feel that way about the matchup. Oddsmakers have the Boilermakers as big favorites for the rivalry rematch.
