Editor’s Note: The Hotel at Four Winds Casino South Bend is officially open

The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians have been busy at the Four Winds Casino in South Bend. After expanding casino gaming operations in 2021 and adding a sportsbook in 2022, the tribe wrapping up its newt achievement.

A new 23-story hotel now rises into the South Bend skies. It will open at the Indiana casino on March 1. It boasts 317 rooms, including 83 luxury suites, and will house new eateries, an events center and a spa.

Hotel project took more than two years to complete

Hoosiers who want to play slots or blackjack must visit one of the dozen or so casinos in the state. Online casinos in Indiana are still prohibited for now.

According to a release from the casino, “luxury hotel rooms, suites and celebrity suites at Four Winds South Bend feature all the amenities you expect to find at a luxury resort, complemented with impeccable guest service and some extra special touches.”

Tribal Chairwoman Rebecca Richards said it’s been a long process.

“March 1 will mark the culmination of a nearly two-and-a-half-year journey to realize our vision to expand Four Winds South Bend.”

Four Winds COO Frank Freedman echoed her sentiments.

“We are thrilled about welcoming guests to visit our new hotel, restaurant, conference and event center, and spa at Four Winds South Bend. The anticipation has been building as we have been focused on completing the interior features and finishes. From the design, use of materials and attention to detail, Four Winds South Bend offers a premium feel you will find at top resorts. A sincere thank you to everyone that had a hand in the successful completion of the project. Whether you are visiting for entertainment or business, we look forward to welcoming you to enjoy a first-class experience.”

Hotel also features events center and spa

There are also several new amenities within the hotel.

Cedar Spa is located on the ground level promenade near the hotel lobby. It offers traditional and more unique spa treatments, from steam rooms and saunas to vitality pools and separate lounges for men and women to relax and decompress. The spa will begin taking appointments soon.

Edgewater Café is on the third floor of the hotel. The menu represents the sun and the sea. The casino claims “there is no better place in South Bend to enjoy delicious dining, including a daily brunch menu with options that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch or midday treat, along with an eclectic dinner menu presenting a fresh spin on steaks, seafood, sandwiches, soups, salads and much more.”

Guests can walk in to get a table or make reservations on the OpenTable application.

Ribbon Town Conference and Event Center was built to entice companies to hold work retreats or symposiums there. The 24,000-square-foot space can be used many different ways. There are 16 separate meeting rooms, a ballroom with enough space to seat 800 people, two bar areas, a business center and an outdoor space.

The event center will also host live musical events and other performances. The first concert will feature country band Parmalee on March 18.

There’s also an outdoor swimming pool area on the third floor as well as patios with incredible views.

All of these new facilities will need new workers to keep things operational. Four Winds is hosting a job fair on Feb. 6 to help fill some of those positions.
