Could Indianapolis land another Super Bowl in the future? There are a few possibilities on the horizon.

The city hosted Super Bowl XLVI, but that was back in 2012. Eli Manning and the New York Giants took down Tom Brady’s New England Patriots in that game.

Indy has a great track record of hosting large events, so the city might be able to claim another Super Bowl in the future.

Indianapolis should host 2025 Super Bowl

Indiana sports betting could help make the state a great candidate for hosting another Super Bowl in Indianapolis.

Since so many NFL fans travel for the big game, many of them would likely come from states that don’t have legal wagering yet. That could be a great opportunity for fans to bet on sports while they’re in town.

However, there’s a lot of planning that goes into a Super Bowl. Preparations get underway years in advance, starting with picking out the host city.

Since scheduling is done so far ahead of time, that takes 2022’s Super Bowl LVI well off the table for Indy.

The next few years also have their host cities set in stone. That is, except for 2025’s Super Bowl LVIII.

So what’s the deal with 2025? Why doesn’t the NFL have a host city picked out yet?

It turns out, it’s due to a scheduling conflict.

New Orleans was originally going to run the show for Super Bowl LVIII.

However, the schedule was going to overlap with Mardi Gras. Throwing a Super Bowl on top of that would have been too much at one time, so the NFL ended up pushing the city’s hosting duties back until 2025.

That leaves the league with a decision to make for 2025.

The Las Vegas Raiders are offering to host that year’s Super Bowl. Vegas would certainly be a fun option, but Indianapolis has a more proven track record of hosting massive sporting events.

Indy is already hosting the NBA All-Star Game in 2025, so making a run at the Super Bowl could make for a February to remember for the city.

Indy already hosts the NFL Combine

Indianapolis has been a sports hub for the country in recent years.

The city just hosted the entire 2021 March Madness tournament, and things went off without a hitch.

The logistics weren’t easy for hosting dozens of teams worth of players and staff, but Indianapolis made it happen. The city already had the infrastructure in place to pull it off.

March Madness is one thing, but hosting a Super Bowl is much smaller in terms of the overall scale.

Sure there are lots of events taking place over the course of the week, but there are also far fewer games, arenas and teams to worry about.

Indianapolis was a fantastic host for Super Bowl XLVI, and the city could do an even better job the second time around if given the opportunity.

Lucas Oil Stadium was a relatively new arena back in 2012. Since then, the stadium has hosted numerous big events that the city can use as learning experiences.

Plus, Indianapolis is no stranger to the NFL.

Lucas Oil is the home of the Indianapolis Colts. The city also hosts the NFL Combine every year.

It may not come to fruition for a number of years, but Indianapolis should throw its hat in the ring for hosting another Super Bowl. The last Super Bowl in Indy generated $89 million, and the next one could be even more successful.
