A pair of Indiana gamblers just won massive Hoosier Lottery prizes. One player took home half a million dollars thanks to Money Multiplier, while the other won a $50,000 Powerball prize.

Hoosier Lottery prizes

According to the Hoosier Lottery, Lincoln Shaw bought his $500,000 winning ticket at a Circle K in Shelbyville. That massive prize is incredibly rare.

The overall odds of winning a Money Multiplier prize are about 1 in 4. The numbers take a huge leap for the $500,000 top prize.

Your chances of repeating Shaw’s luck? About 1 in 856,424. Not exactly your everyday occurrence.

It’s no secret that winning the lottery is next to impossible.

Winning the big Money Multiplier prize is insanely difficult, but winning the Powerball jackpot is even harder. Your chances of winning are 1 in 292,201,338.

For the sake of comparison, you have about a 1 in 500,000 chance of being struck by lightning in any given year.

This week’s $50,000 Powerball winner didn’t win the entire jackpot, but the ticket they bought from a BP Food Mart in Columbus was still incredibly rare.

That player matched four of the five winning numbers. The odds of pulling that off are a slim 1 in 913,129.

The Powerball pool will continue to grow since that lucky Hoosier didn’t end up winning the entire jackpot. April 20’s jackpot drawing has an estimated worth of $370 million.

What to do if you win the lottery

Your chances of winning the lottery are next to nothing, but hey, someone has to win.

After all, Indiana does have the most Powerball jackpot winners in history. The Hoosier State has had 39 different winners over the years, which is a nice lead over second-place Missouri’s 31 winners.

If you do end up as one of the lucky chosen few, then there are a few steps you can take to keep yourself safe.

First thing’s first, don’t tell anyone until you have a plan in place. The last thing you want is to put up hurdles for yourself before you even have your money.

Look into hiring a financial advisor and a lawyer to help you claim your ticket anonymously.

If you’re looking to stay out of the public eye, then you’ll have to claim your prize through a limited liability corporation or a legal trust. A Lawyer can help you get things set up.

Once you’re ready to go, just call the Hoosier Lottery at 1-800-955-6886 to claim your money. That number is the only way to claim prizes worth $50,000 or more.
