Dish Network And DraftKings Are Bringing The Sportsbook To Your Living Room
Dish Network is starting to integrate gambling into its platform.
The company just announced a new deal with DraftKings that will combine the live TV experience with sports betting.
Dish subscribers will have access to the new product if they have a Hopper set-top.
Dish Network brings live sports betting to TV
Watching the games that you’re gambling on is already a big part of sports betting.
Dish is looking to bring both sides of the experience closer together with this new deal.
Dish users will be able to find live betting odds right on their TVs. Those DraftKings odds will be front and center when you’re watching live sports, so you won’t need to check the sportsbook for the latest information.
Having all that information on display will help gamblers make informed bets on the fly.
Paul Liberman, DraftKings’ co-founder, says he’s excited to bring customers a new experience.
“Our deal with Dish TV and the technology behind it immerses customers within a next-generation viewership experience and reaches these fanbases in a completely new way.”
Dish users will also be able to see daily fantasy contests from DraftKings within sports broadcasts.
If you see a bet that you’d like to place or a contest you’d like to join, then you can start the process right from your TV.
Once you find something you like, you’ll have to confirm your bet on the DraftKings mobile app.
An integrated TV and sports betting experience would be a first for the US market. However, Dish and DraftKings aren’t the only companies trying to make it happen right now.
Fubo sportsbook live TV betting
FuboTV is creating its own version of a live TV sports betting experience.
The streaming service is already centered around sports, so fubo’s new sportsbook will take things to the next level.
The sportsbook is heading to Indiana thanks to fubo’s new deal with Caesars Entertainment.
When it’s all said and done, fubo users will be able to see live odds and place bets directly through the fuboTV platform.
In other words, both companies are working towards the same goal.
Dish Network has upper hand on fuboTV
Both companies want a live TV service with heavy sports betting ties, but Dish might have the advantage when it comes to getting off the launch pad.
The difference maker could end up being Dish Newtork’s large subscriber base.
Dish has over 11 million subscribers right now, which will immediately give its new product a big reach across the country.
Fubo only expects to have about 545,000 subscribers by the end of 2021, so it might be fighting an uphill battle.
Another key difference between the two companies will be brand recognition.
By partnering with DraftKings, Dish already has a well-known sportsbook to help with the marketing side of things.
Since fubo Sportsbook is a brand-new product, it won’t have the existing customer base that DraftKings will be starting off with.
Fubo sportsbook will be launching in Indiana sometime towards the end of 2021. Until then, the company won’t be able to start taking bets in the state.
DraftKings, on the other hand, is already Indiana’s most popular sportsbook. The company handled over $122 million worth of bets during January alone.
So although both fubo and Dish are aiming for the same type of product, Dish should have the advantage when it comes to getting things started.
The fusion of sports betting and TV is a new idea. At the very least, it will provide a fresh way to mix up the typical live betting experience.
