It’s NBA Draft week!

The 2020 NBA Draft is finally taking place on Nov. 18.

The draft typically takes place over the summer, but the NBA had to revise its schedule because of the pandemic.

After some delays, one of the highlights of the NBA offseason is here.

Free agency is about to start, and with the draft taking place this week, the NBA is finally on track for its December restart.

Pacers, Bulls and the draft order

This year is a strange one for Pacers fans, since the team doesn’t actually have a first-round pick this time around.

That pick was part of the sign-and-trade that brought Malcolm Brogdon to Indiana.

Milwaukee just shipped that pick to New Orleans as part of Monday’s wild Jrue Holiday trade, so it’s moved around a bit since 2019.

On the other side of the Central Division, the Chicago Bulls have the fourth overall pick in the draft.

That’s a nice changeup for Bulls fans, since the team has had the seventh pick in the last three drafts.

However, this might not be the best year for having such a high pick.

There’s no Zion Williamson in this draft. No Ja Morant, no RJ Barrett.

Most experts see this as an average draft class at best, so finding an impact player at four could be easier said than done.

Chicago could always trade up in the draft.

Indiana could do the same, and that might not be off the table considering the uncertain futures of Victor Oladipo and Myles Turner on the team.

It might change leading up to the event, but here’s a look at the current draft lottery order:

  1. Minnesota Timberwolves
  2. Golden State Warriors
  3. Charlotte Hornets
  4. Chicago Bulls
  5. Cleveland Cavaliers
  6. Atlanta Hawks
  7. Detroit Pistons
  8. New York Knicks
  9. Washington Wizards
  10. Phoenix Suns
  11. San Antonio Spurs
  12. Sacramento Kings
  13. New Orleans Pelicans
  14. Boston Celtics (from Memphis)

Betting on the NBA Draft

Indiana is one of a handful of states where you can actually bet on the NBA Draft.

That’s thanks to the huge number of betting options that the Indiana Gaming Commission allows. That wide selection of options has been important for helping grow the state’s betting market.

Speaking of betting options, DraftKings has the widest selection available for the draft.

The sportsbook is expecting the first overall pick to be a toss up between LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards.

Player Odds
LaMelo Ball -115
Anthony Edwards -106
James Wiseman +900
Obi Toppin +10000
Deni Avdija +20000
Killian Hayes +30000
Onyeka Okongwu +30000
Cole Anthony +50000
RJ Hampton +50000
Tyrese Haliburton +75000

However, there are a lot more betting options out there than just the first pick.

DraftKings will let you bet on the over/under for a certain player’s draft position.

For example, Ball and James Wiseman have their draft position total set at 2.5 for over/under betting. Edwards has the lowest total available at 1.5.

Feel like you know which player will be the 15th overall pick? Well, you can bet on it at DraftKings.

You can bet on which player will be picked at almost any spot in the first round.

Picks 1-29 are on the board, although the further out you go, the harder it’ll be to make the correct pick.

But hey, maybe you’re confident in who the Lakers end up taking at 28. It’s all about having as many options as possible, and so far DraftKings is dominating that area.

The options don’t stop there. You can bet on how many players from a certain college conference or a certain school end up being drafted as well.

These are only a few of the betting options for the NBA Draft, so check out DraftKings’ website or app for the full list.
